What happens once you’re approved?

What happens once you’re approved?

Congratulations on being approved for your new MBNA credit card. You’ll receive everything you need to get up and running in the next 7-10 business days, including your card and PIN.

You need to activate your card before you start using it. The easiest way to do this is through Online Card Services. You’ll need to register your card first if you haven’t already.

Once registered with Online Card Services, you’ll find everything you need to manage your account there. From setting up a Direct Debit, adding authorised users and making a balance or money transfer, it’s all available at the click of a mouse.

Making a transfer

You can request a transfer in Online Card Services. Simply select the ‘Make a Transfer’ option and follow the onscreen instructions.

A balance transfer lets you move a balance from another credit card or store card to your MBNA card, while a money transfer gives you access to funds in your current account.

You can only transfer up to 95% of your credit limit and there’s usually a fee payable. If you’re outside your terms and conditions, the option might not always be available.

Setting up a Direct Debit

Paying by Direct Debit ensures your payments reach us on time and stops late fees on your account.1

To set up a Direct Debit on your credit card, log in to Online Card Services, go to ‘Payments’ and select ‘Set up a Direct Debit’. You’ll then see instructions to follow.

We’ll let you know once your Direct Debit’s in place on your monthly statement. You might have to make a payment by debit card, cheque or any other accepted means until we tell you your Direct Debit’s ready.  You can make additional payments as often as you like on top of your Direct Debit.

1 Please note the Direct Debit option may not always be available online, for example if your account is over limit or you have missed a payment.
