Home insurance in a nutshell

Home insurance helps cover the cost if something happens to your home or belongings. You pay us a premium so if something goes wrong, we can help put it right if your claim is covered. Our policy documents tell you more about what is and isn't covered. Keep in mind that with all of our cover, there are limits, terms and exclusions.

Buildings insurance

Buildings insurance covers you if something happens to the structure of your home. For example, if there's a fire.

Home Insurance Essentials covers the buildings of your home up to £400,000 but not things that aren't attached. Like a detached garage or shed. To include these, you need to add outbuildings cover. Accidental damage isn't covered but you can add this if you want to.

Or you can choose Home Insurance Plus. This covers the buildings of your home and its outbuildings up to £1 million. Accidental damage is covered too.

Contents insurance

Contents insurance covers you if something happens to your things. For example, if they're damaged in a flood.

Home Insurance Essentials covers household goods and belongings in your home up to £55,000. It doesn't cover items in your outbuildings, like a detached garage or a shed. Or items in the open at your home, like in your garden. To include these, you need to add outbuildings and in the open cover. Accidental damage isn't covered but you can add this if you want to.

Or you can choose Home Insurance Plus which provides cover up to £80,000. This covers household goods and belongings in your home as well as items in your outbuildings, like a detached garage or a shed. And items in the open at your home, like in your garden. Accidental damage is covered too.
