What happens once you’re approved?

Congratulations on being approved for your new MBNA credit card. You’ll get everything you need to get up and running in the next 7 working days, including your card and PIN. Once it arrives you’ll need to activate your card before you start using it, but that’s easy to do online, on your mobile or by giving us a call.

If you're not registered for Online Card Services, you can do that once you’ve activated your credit card... otherwise log in to activate and start managing your account straightaway. From checking your balance and adding a cardholder, to making payments and requesting transfers, it’s all easy and secure online.

You might also be interested in the MBNA Card Services App, which you can use to manage your account on a smartphone when you’re out and about.

Making a transfer

A balance transfer lets you move a balance from another credit card or store card to your MBNA card, while a money transfer allows you to transfer funds to your bank or building society account.

It’s easy to request a transfer online, on your mobile or by giving us a call. You can transfer up to 93% of your credit limit and there’s usually a fee payable. If you’re outside your terms and conditions, the option might not always be available.

Setting up a Direct Debit

Once a Direct Debit is in place, we’ll claim payments of the amount you choose from your nominated bank account every month. It’s all automatic, so as long as there are funds available, you’ll never miss a payment.

It’s easy to set up your Direct Debit online or by giving us a call. You might have to use one of the other payment methods until it shows on your statement that your Direct Debit is in place. Of course, you can make additional payments anytime you like.
