MBNA PPI Cancellation

Covéa Insurance plc cancelled all LifestyleProtect policies on MBNA credit cards with effect 30th November 2025. Any event that could have led to a claim after this date will no longer be covered. All policy owners were informed of this decision prior to cancellation.

If you are interested in purchasing protection for your existing credit agreements, then please refer to the MoneyHelper for guidance.

What is PPI?

PPI was insurance that paid out a sum of money to help cover your repayments on your credit card under certain situations.

The actual events covered by your policy depended upon the level of cover that you had purchased, and your policy terms and conditions confirmed your level of cover and exclusions (what isn’t covered).

LifestyleProtect had benefits, including covering your credit card payments if you were out of work due to accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment, were hospitalized, became a carer or loss of life. LifestyleProtect could also help you with life events, like having a baby, getting married or purchasing a main home.  Please check your LifestyleProtect policy document for more information.

You may still hold the documentation given to you when you purchased PPI, such as a policy document or policy schedule. If not, you can review and download a copy of the MBNA PPI terms and conditions (PDF, 279KB).
