Changing your contactless limit

Our secure Card Services app makes it easy for you to change your contactless limit to one that works for you.

A new feature on our Card Services app is the ability to select your own contactless limit. In just a few taps you can choose your own payment and between £30 and £95.

Any changes made to your contactless limit will also be applied to payments made by Google Pay or Apple Pay. However, please bear in mind that these services may have different limits.

To change your contactless limit you will need:


  • The MBNA Card Services app and access to the internet 
  • To be registered for Online Card  Services
  • A compatible mobile or tablet device
  • A contactless enabled credit card

How do I change my contactless limit?

Follow these simple steps to choose your contactless limit between £30 and £95.

You can also use these steps to reset to the current maximum of £100. Apple Pay or Google Pay may have different limits.

Step 1:

From the home screen, tap ‘My card’

Step 2:

Tap ‘Card freezes & Limits’

Step 3:

Tap the arrow next to ‘Change your contactless limit’

Step 4:

Tap the arrow next to ‘Select a limit’ then choose an amount between £30 & £95

Step 5:

Tap ‘Save Limit’

Step 6:

You’re done!

If you want to change your contactless limit but can’t access our Card Services app, please get in touch with us over the phone

If you report your card as lost or stolen, you’ll need to log into the app to change your contactless limit on your new card.
