MBNA takes top honours at the 2016 Card and Payments Awards

The Chester-based financial services company won the award for Best CSR Programme of the Year for Number Cruncherz, a financial literacy programme for school children, developed in partnership with The Sale Sharks Rugby Club.

MBNA was also Highly Commended for Best Design of the Year for the Biodegradable WWF Credit Card.

The Card and Payments Awards are open to financial services companies in the UK and Ireland, and are considered some of the industry’s most respected accolades.

Ian O’Doherty, Chief Executive of MBNA, said: “As the Card and Payments Awards’ winners are chosen by a panel of industry experts, we’re pleased that our hard work has been recognised by these respected professionals.

We are proud that our Number Cruncherz programme has been recognised as the best CSR Initiative of the Year. Through this programme we have aimed to make money management easier for young people, and it is pleasing to see that the industry recognises what we have achieved with the initiative so far.”

The awards ceremony took place in London at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 4 February. For a full list of winners, visit www.cardandpaymentsawards.com.
