Credit card experts MBNA has announced that Samsung Pay is now available to its UK customers with compatible Samsung devices, as the mobile payment system goes live in the UK. MBNA is an early pioneer in new payment technologies, making contactless payments and digital wallets available for all their customers.
MBNA customers can now load their MBNA credit card into Samsung Pay for a simple, fast and secure way to make mobile payments. Customers just need to look for where contactless cards are accepted.
James Poole, Strategy and Innovation executive said: “At MBNA, we keep a constant eye on innovation. We’re making good stuff happen by providing convenient and relevant choices for our customers to pay in different ways with their same MBNA account. With Samsung Pay, our customers can pay for day-to-day items with a safe, smart mobile wallet.
“MBNA continuously focuses on its customer’s needs. We were amongst the first payment providers to bring both Apple Pay and Android Pay to our customers. We’re excited to once again be one of the first payment providers to offer this innovative service to our customers.”
Samsung’s approach to mobile payments is focused on security. With each separate transaction, Samsung Pay uses an encrypted digital token to replace sensitive card information to help prevent fraud. Users can use the Galaxy S8 and S8+’s iris scanner to authorise payments, or a registered fingerprint or passcode on other compatible devices, so you are in complete control when each payment is made.
Samsung Pay is available at launch on the Galaxy S8/S8+, S7/S7 Edge, and S6/S6 Edge, with additional devices coming soon. MBNA customers can download the Samsung Pay app from the Galaxy Apps store now.
