UK-based financial provider MBNA and Emirates’ UK co-brand credit card programme has secured a leading award recognising the best co-brand and loyalty schemes in the world.
The Emirates Skywards Credit Card Accounts, launched as part of a collaboration between MBNA and Emirates in 2013, secured “Best New Co-branded, Affinity or Loyalty Product” at the annual Future Payments & Digital Banking 2014 Awards, backed by Cards International, beating challengers from the US, Canada and Dubai.
MBNA’s Michael Donald collected the award on behalf of MBNA and Emirates at a ceremony held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London. “We are extremely proud of our affinity relationship with Emirates, a true global brand connecting people and places all over the world”, said Donald. “Relationships like the one we have with Emirates have always been the cornerstone of our affinity card business and our UK credit card relationship with Emirates Skywards has been outstanding. We have an immense sense of pride that major brands like Emirates and our range of airline credit cards; major sports brands like Manchester United and Liverpool Football Club, and charities like WWF and British Heart Foundation, choose us to be their credit card issuer of choice in the UK.
“MBNA has made a commitment to making life easier, not only for our millions of UK customers, but for our associates to do business with us. This award is a tremendous testament to that.”
Emirates’ award-winning frequent flyer programme, Emirates Skywards, and MBNA offer two credit card accounts for current and new Emirates Skywards members and UK consumers. The ‘Emirates Skywards Credit Card Account’ and ‘Emirates Skywards Elite Credit Card Account’ allow customers the choice between a standard no annual fee card and an elite version with a fee.
