MBNA makes Clippers customers’ day with surprises for tapping out

Lucky travellers using MBNA Clippers on the Thames snapped up a host of free gifts courtesy of MBNA earlier this week, just for tapping out with a contactless payment card.

Over 4,000 prizes were dished out at six piers on 25 May 2016 to celebrate Clippers going contactless. Prizes picked up included free on-board drinks vouchers, bunches of flowers, Apple and Sony watches, and even free season tickets.

Passengers travelling between 7am and 7pm who disembarked at one of the selected piers and tapped out with any contactless card were given the chance to win. They were greeted by a hostess and invited to pick an MBNA-branded balloon from the waiting room, check the attached gift tag and claim their prize.

Hi. Good morning. Hi. Hello. Are you using contactless today?

Excited passengers boarding their ferry, clutching balloons which carried prize tags.

One surprised passenger exclaims:
Oh my god, I can’t believe it.

Crew member:
Laughing. How do you feel?

Passenger:
I was only having a look around the river, what’s that?

Another passenger, surprised with a bunch of flowers commented:
This is rather surprising. Thank you. I don’t know what else to say.
