Security Tips
Follow our top 10 tips from our fraud experts:
- Keep us informed–let us know if you move, even if it's only temporary. Also tell us if you change your work, home or mobile telephone numbers.
- If you are travelling abroad, please call us in advance to let us know. This will help us to manage your account whilst you are away should any problems arise.
- Shred any correspondence of a confidential or financial nature.
- Register with our Online Banking service to regularly review your account for unusual transactions.
- Keep your PIN safe. Don't write it down or disclose it to anyone, even MBNA. When you receive your preassigned PIN, change it to a number that you prefer and one that you will easily remember.
- Treat your card like cash. Don't leave it on show or 'behind the bar'.
- Set up a password on your account. Don't make your password obvious for people to guess and never disclose your password to anyone.
- If you don't receive your statement or card, or your mail appears to have been tampered with please call us immediately on 0800 062 062.
- Report lost or stolen cards immediately. Programme MBNA's Customer Service telephone numbers into your mobile phone. In the UK, call 0800 062 062. If you are overseas, the reverse charge number is 01244 672 111 (available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).
- Be aware of how to stay safe when shopping or banking online. Read our sections on Preventing Fraud and Reporting Fraud to understand the measures we put in place to protect you and the steps you can take to protect yourself. Another good source of information is Bank Safe Online in our External Resources section.
