Why is my Alliance & Leicester Credit Card changing?
MBNA has been running the Alliance & Leicester Credit Card since 2002. However, Alliance & Leicester is now part of the Santander Group and our relationship has ended. This means we are going to replace your card with a new one. This will carry the MBNA name and you will, of course, continue to enjoy the same high standards of service. You'll also start to see the MBNA name in the communications you receive from us, from October onwards.
What will be different with my new credit card?
Your new credit card will be MBNA branded. Your interest rates and all other benefits will remain exactly the same.
When will I receive my new MBNA Credit Card?
Your MBNA Credit Card will be sent to you within the next six months, or whenever your current card is due for renewal (provided your account is in good standing). For now, you should continue to use your current Alliance & Leicester Credit Card.
How long can I continue to use my Alliance & Leicester Credit Card?
You can continue to use your current Alliance & Leicester Credit Card until you receive and activate your new MBNA Credit Card.
Will my interest rates change?
We will not be changing your interest rates as a result of this change in name.
I have just completed a money/balance transfer so will my promotional rates stay the same?
Yes, there will be no amendments to your rates or promotional period as a result of this change in name.
Will my card number change?
No, your card number will remain the same.
What about my card's expiry date and 3-digit security code?
These will both change. This means you'll need to amend your details with anyone you make regular payments to, or have subscriptions with.
Will my existing Personal Identification Number (PIN) stay the same?
Yes, your PIN will continue to be exactly the same 4-digit number.
I currently have a Direct Debit set up on my account - will this change?
No, there's no need for you to make changes to any existing Direct Debit arrangement. Your payments will continue to be made on the dates they are due.
How does this affect my authorised user(s)?
They will also receive a new card at the same time as you. Their PIN will remain the same, as will their interest rates (including any promotional rates) and features.
Will my payment system (for example, Visa or MasterCard) change?
No, there will be no change to the payment system on your new card.
Will my payment methods change?
For the time being, no. You can continue to service your card in the same way as normal. However, from October 2009, Alliance & Leicester branches will no longer accept payments to Alliance & Leicester branded Credit Cards issued by MBNA. Please refer to the back of your statement for alternative payment methods.
