Charity credit cards guide
Charity credit cards give charities an important source of revenue. At MBNA, we issue the card and make contributions to the charity based on card usage. The contributions vary by charity and is made by the card issuer, MBNA—at no cost to you.
Ideally suited for…
Charity credit cards are ideal if you want a credit card that contributes to your favourite charity cause. Our charity credit cards are designed to contribute funds to your chosen charity at no cost to you. Our charity credit cards also give you flexible benefits and competitive rates.
Benefits
- Contributions to charity at no cost to you—the percentage of contribution varies by charity credit card. Just by using your charity credit card for everyday spending such as food or petrol purchases earns a contribution for the charity; and combined with those contributions from other charity credit card holders the amount soon adds up. The charity then allocates the funds.
- Guaranteed giving—since your contributions are linked with your credit card and how much you spend you can rest assured that you are making a difference—it's all set up for you and happens automatically on an ongoing basis.
- Small contributions soon add up—you may think that your spending won't make a difference but when combined with all other charity credit card holders it soon adds up. For example, over £10 million has been generated for WWF.
- Discounts and offers—some of our charity credit cards offer cardholders exclusive discounts and deals in return for using the card.
- Great introductory rates—whether you're looking to transfer a balance from an existing credit card or simply want to make a card purchase, we work with charities to offer you great competitive introductory rates and APR.
- All the features of a traditional credit card—all our credit cards carry the same great features and services, including Online Card Services, paperless statements online, fraud protection and free 24-hour UK based customer service helpline.
a From the date your account is opened. A handling fee applies to balance transfers and money transfers. Balance transfers and money transfers must be made within 90 days of account opening.
b From the date your account is opened. If you have two or more promotional offers at the same rate, we will use your payments to reduce any promotional balance with the lowest standard rate last, even if this offer ends first. This could mean that any such balance may not have been reduced by the time the standard rate applies to it.
Promotional rates will no longer apply from the beginning of any statement period during which you have breached your terms and conditions
† We treat each customer's application individually. We review the information you supply and verify your credit and repayment history so the APR we offer you may be higher or lower than the APR shown in the representative example. At least 51% of customers will receive this representative APR.
