UNICEF

unicefBy donating your reward points to charity you can help support UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. UNICEF is the world's leading organisation working for children and their rights. Donating your spare reward points can help them continue this important work.

What does the charity do?

Their practical Programme help meet every child’s right to be healthy, to be educated, to be treated fairly, to be listened to and to have a childhood free from adult responsibilities. They work with families, communities and governments in more than 190 countries, enabling them to reach the most vulnerable children.

Their permanent presence worldwide means they are able to respond rapidly wherever and whenever a disaster strikes, providing life-saving assistance and protection for children.  For example, after the devastating earthquake in Indonesia in 2006, UNICEF delivered 300,000 litres of water a day to communities in Java. By protecting children from the deadly diseases found in dirty water, they helped save countless lives.

UNICEF also helps children access their rights through long-term and cost-effective Programme. Today, more than 100 million children are missing out on the benefits of primary education.  By rebuilding education systems and recruiting teachers, UNICEF works to make sure all children have the chance to reach their full potential.

Despite being part of the United Nations, UNICEF receives no funding from the UN budget.  They are funded entirely by voluntary contributions and are only able to carry out their vital work thanks to the voluntary contributions of their supporters.
