Chestival
We’re proud to support Chester’s most popular programme of cultural events. Highlights include the Chester Summer Music Festival, Winter Parades and the Chester Literature Festival.
The High Sheriff’s Cheshire Prize for Literature
This major regional competition is organised by the University of Chester. Its aim is to nurture the literary talents of new and existing Cheshire writers in genres such as short stories, children’s literature and poetry. The winner receives a prize of £2,000.
High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise
Introduced in 2006, this competition recognises outstanding achievement by enterprises in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. It’s open to private sector companies with between five and 250 employees and a turnover of at least £500,000. First prize winners earn a place on the MBA programme at Chester Business School.
Significant contributions from us, amongst other regional and national sponsors, make this the region’s highest-value competition of its kind.
Rhino Mania
For ten weeks in the summer of 2010, up to 70 5ft high rhinos will stampede onto the streets of Chester, showcasing the wealth of artistic talent in the area.
This mass public appeal art event, organized by Chester Renaissance in partnership with Wild in Art, will highlight the plight of climate change, environmental issues and animal extinction.
Manchester Camerata
More than 15,000 people have engaged in innovative music-themed activities in the community, as part of our three-year partnership with the Manchester Camerata Chamber Orchestra.
