CPP – Vote on compensation scheme
Published on 14th November 2013
MBNA has been working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Card Protection Plan Limited (CPP) to develop a ‘Scheme of Arrangement’ that will review and compensate anyone who may have been mis-sold a CPP-provided Card Protection and/or Identity Protection policy purchased or renewed on or after 14 January 2005. Any policyholders this applies to will have been contacted by the CPP scheme already.
During November, policyholders will be asked to vote on the proposed compensation scheme.
• If eligible to vote, the policyholder will receive the voting form, and instructions on how to vote, from CPP in November 2013
• If policyholders think they have a card and/or identity protection policy from CPP and they have not received the voting form by the end of November 2013, they should contact CPP on 0800 083 4393 (outside the UK dial +44 1144 520 800).
If the required majority of policyholders vote in favour of the proposed compensation scheme, and it is approved by the High Court, all policyholders will be bound to the scheme and claims will be paid from early 2014.
Policyholders do not need to do anything further than vote at the moment.
Please rest assured, MBNA will continue to work to achieve the best possible outcome for any impacted policyholders and continues to work through all the requirements of the scheme with the FCA, CPP and its other business partners.
